Festival De CAnnes update!

      WHEEL 1
Wohoo! Great great news! Filemduatayar is going to Festival De Cannes in May with 2 short films and we are going under a special unit production name under an umbrella production company. This is big and we are very very excited! The biggest film festivals in the world! How great is that. Though the best way to go is by going under Malaysia name. Unfortunately none of the 2 short film will representing Malaysia, if could then it would be both a highlight and a great way to promote Malaysia! Next year Festival De Cannes hopefully, films represents Malaysia. Well do link us with more Malaysian talent. We love to meet motivated person who will want to commit to wonderful things!

Sir Ken Robinson

Competition are getting tougher everyday. And our learning year are stretch longer and longer after each generation. Degree was enough last time and now we need master to be at the same level as degree last time, actually now might be PHD already.

Imagine the competition, kids going to kindergarden in Los Angeles and New York, they are competing for place, some 3 year old kids had to hand in a resume presumably. The interviewer would say, "whats this, you've been 36 months and this is it?? You've achieve nothing."

Learn more about the education system that is very industrialize. Forming you to be a great hard labour. Arts, science, business. All the same way. To be logic and work hard. Ignoring other elements of life.

Theres a lot of talks by Sir Ken Robinson, check the short fun ted talk by him. Type in google ted talk sir ken robinson. If you wants more, this is a longer fun talk, Fun because he's a great speaker who talks with excellent content and he joke along with it. About his new book, the element.

Hmm

    WHEEL 1

Being a storyteller you would want to have a particular values you want to say in your story or you simply want to voice out something. The story I got is not something I would want to voice out but in terms of doing a great job in telling a story that I'm not passionate to tell. It just struck me should I do it just to improves my skills, then voice out story that I'm passionate about in the future. We'll see what happens.

Pineapple Tarts

I just found out today that Larkin grew up in Coventry.
That pretty much explains the mood of his poetry.
Still, one enjoys reading him. His sentiments are at one private and public.
Like a universal cynical attitude towards life that most can probably relate to, and yet they are inspired from private thoughts/moments in his life.

And i surprisingly like In memoriam a.h.h. and it is through this poem that i am starting to like the victorians this term. Their obsession with death is almost quaint when you find out that it was because that was the period in history when people started to publicly wonder if there is an after-life. I used to think it was just because they were so stiff and serious and...sombre?
Queen Victoria laid out a fresh set of clothes and towel for her husband every morning 20 yrs after his death (and publicly admitted this). Sorry i cant find any other way to describe this other than - so cute! (and very touching of course).

Deciding whether or not to make pineapple jam tarts tmr........
I want to.
Because I've never had to before. And what better time than now.
But. The process is tedious and look at all the different types of flour I will need to get:
300 gm wheat flour, 50 gm cornflour, 30 gm custard flour and 20 gms milk powder

Who can resist heart shaped jam tarts?

Art Cinema

  WHEEL 1
I went to watch Precious last night at this art cinema called Everyman cinema. It's in upper street.
The ticket cost is the same as odeon but Odeon is not as good as u get in One Utama cinema or Cineleisure.
So I went to the cinema with sister, Aisyah, we were surprised to see a bar directly opposite the screen. And they sell yummy food! CAkes, sweets treats (A lot of choice!). I got the bread and humus, haha! It's damn good, I love it!
Just when the show starts to play, the bar will close and we are sitting on our comfortable seats, feels as comfortable as at home.
Some difference experience, not just us, I realises a lot of people are first timer as well. We love it, they love it.
So go on and try, there are a lot of art cinemas in uk, each got different style. There are the wonderful ones and some ok ones. Anyhow, it is a great experience, Totally worth it!

Reflection on the facebook group

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=app_2373072738&gid=289804698745#!/group.php?v=wall&gid=289804698745

To be honest. I'm a snobbish Malaysian who commented on Malaysian overall film without seeing a lot of movies. Aha! A universal moment! Well thanks to the crappy Malaysian films playing in the cinema. Lowers our morality and trust in Malaysian Film Industry.

However that does not mean we lack of talent. Rather Malaysia lacks guidance and inspiration for future filmmakers. There are great films that didn't reach the audience for example, "Sell Out" which came out last May and most of my friends have to idea it exist. Check the trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bX5Jv0Rt9PI&feature=related

I'm dying to see this Malaysia film but it can't be reach. Not in cetak rompak not even in DVD shop. What happened here??

So on of the main reason is of this group is to build trust between the filmmakers work and the audience as well as to inspire each other. The admin will do the best to relate more work so you can have a say. Remember your voice counts. Your voice decides how far the work can reach the audience.

Another reason is to promote Malaysia. As i said in the invitation notes, I'm proud to show Yasmin Ahmad Muhksin to my British colleague here who do film and they love it. Get more PEOPLE inside, 'the more people there is the easier the filmmaking progresses'.

There you go, a short essay! Lol!

Hopefully I will also get to make heart shaped pineapple tarts and egg tarts this weekend (fingers mega crossed)

The Official FINISHED trailer for Puteri Hang Li Po will be out this Friday! (semua org berikan tepukan!)

Mummy's birthday surprise for me is arriving soon i hope. Cant wait to open a parcel of goodies! I know that it definitely contains dried scallops because that was the one thing i requested for. Yay for sweet thoughtful Mothers who send you things like brain blood circulation pills and hormone balancing pills right after you've told them about your brain not working and getting into a rage.
and yay for daddies who print out the poster of your theatrical production to be pasted on his office wall XD
