PRODUCTION STILLS

DIRECTOR STATEMENT

After reaching an agreement to shoot a short fiction for the Wing Chun Association (Kung Fu association) 50th annual anniversary dinner in Malaysia, I set myself a challenge to write, direct and produce a short fiction in twenty four hours. I wasted no time and began writing at one in the morning.

Two hours later I’ve written a three page script and did few redraft in three hours and then emailed it to theater actors, Wing Chun senior students and crews. Only 2 Wing Chun seniors and a theater actor gave positive response. Worst news was the crew can’t make it and I had to contact few people who do photography and want to help out. Luckily few did response.

Eight at night, the shooting began, the best part of the production was giving the script to the actors and let them spontaneously come out with their own dialogue; since the seniors from Wing Chun association never act, this technique allows them to react to the other actor’s performance and give a believable performance themselves.

This project gives me a new level experience in production; the flexibility of the changing the script line, location, and work with unexpected cast and crew.
